Link Vision’s Op Shop Bonanza was the first such event held at the organisation’s Fairfield headquarters in it’s 50-year history.
Pre-loved fashion, gifts, competitions and raffles featured.
The highlight of the day was the Kiss a Guide Dog stall where people could take a selfie for a gold coin donation.
The day was a fundraiser for the organisation, which provides subsidised independent accommodation for clients who have no, or low vision. Funds will also maintain the computer club, which provides no-cost tutoring to school students with no or low vision and other disabilities.
I am grateful for the support from local businesses. The aim of the function was to involve the community in our event.
It is this involvement that made it such a great success.
I am particularly grateful for the presence of the combined Lions Clubs, who provided traffic direction and a fantastic barbecue.
These events don’t just happen. There is a lot of hard work behind the scenes over a period of time, and we are blessed with such a great bunch of staff, volunteers and board members who selflessly gave up their time.
